Assignment 3 Future Vision Project

Teacher Librarianship
LIBE 477B 951 (3.0): Media and Technologies in the School Library Program
Assignment 3: Future Vision Project

3) Future Vision Project
Overview:
The final assignment for this course will be a representation of your personal vision for EITHER teacher-librarianship or teaching and learning for the 21st century.

Task:
Your future vision project provides an opportunity to implement your learning from this course into practice. To accomplish this task you will identify four key elements: 1) project scope, 2) project rationale, 3) project contents, and 4) project challenges. Part of the process of identifying and articulating these four elements is deciding how you are going to represent your project so that it can be shared with others in your professional community. There are no restrictions on how you choose to share this information. Before deciding on a format, consider who you hope to participate in this project. For example, do you want to use this project with teachers in your school, administrators, parents, other teacher-librarians, provincial PSA organizations, conferences, etc.?

Process:
Identify the key elements of your project, taking into account what you have learned in this course. Draw on your inquiries, readings, discussions, findings and ideas shared by your colleagues in the course; the policy, administrative, professional, curricular, pedagogical, and technological contexts of your professional setting.
The final form of this project is comprised of two parts. The first part is the collection of 5 blog posts that you will do each day as you work through the process of developing the project elements. The second part is the actual project itself, represented as a URL link leading to an online site (whatever format you choose).

Your vision should be innovative (for you) and encapsulate your potential path after you’ve completed this course.  It should incorporate most of your learning in this course and should be transparent, reflective and open. Consider it a work in progress. Value is placed on content development, innovative ICT use, and social networking, rather than a final polished product. The final project URL should include the four elements you have developed through your blog posts, and a summative introductory piece to lead the reader into the project. Depending on the digital format, the project could be a blog with at least a Welcome page and 4 blog posts, a website of 5 pages, a 3 min. video, or a combination of these formats.

Consider this project as a developmental step toward creating a professional “capstone” that you can use in your practice and in your professional community after the course if over.

If you have specific questions about developing your project, please email the instructor.

Assessment criteria are described in the Assessment Rubric Master under Assignment 3 Module 14 Vision of the Future Project.
