In researching the term “mash-up” for this course, I came across several very cool “music video” type mash-ups, and now I am trolling the Internet incessantly, looking for good remixes. (I believe this is still healthier than my previous productive-activity-avoidance technique, which was watching back-to-back episodes of “Maury Povich.”)
Rather than send emails to my friends every 15 minutes, I’ve decided to collect my favorites here.
Blue Monday meets Car Wash, with a little bit of Funkytown
Star Trek meets Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps
Come Together meets Closer (warning: adult lyrics)
Thunderstruck meets Ghostbusters
Paradise City meets Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band
Blue Monday meets Can’t Get You Out of My Head
Can’t Touch This meets Love Shack
Rap meets Weng, Weng, the Impossible Kid (warning: adult lyrics)

Have you listened to Girl Talk at all? He puts on the most incredible live shows. Highly recommended.
I don’t know if you ever liked Fugazi or the Wu-Tang Clan, but there’s this mashup here called ‘Sweet Release’ by, well, Wugazi. Enjoy!
(I hope HTML works in these comments!)
I have heard of Girl Talk, from the “Remix Manifesto” movie. I especially enjoy the music/video combo mash-ups, if folks have taken the time to really pick the right clips. There are several good “Star Trek” mash-ups; I’m a sucker for the original Trek.
An example of mashup that I particularly like is that provided by http://www.vr2020.com It enables combining google map and panoramic view of a location on the map in a blog format. See the tour at http://www.vr2020.com/gtgtours/index.php.
I love me a good music mash-up
A few of my all-time favourites:
•George Bush singing Sunday Bloody Sunday

•DJ Schmolli’s mash-up of M.I.A. and Bon Jovi

•Michael Jackson vs. James Brown

…Also, a mash-up I created a couple years ago with clips from Wall-E and a remixed ‘Whole New World’:

Jamie’s also being modest in not listing his most listened to (audio-only) mashup of Neil Gaiman and Ben Folds (probably more like a cover version, especially since they did perform it live on the internet afterwards): http://soundcloud.com/fongolia/you-dont-know-me-wkap-mix
