PRELIMINARY PLAN
I think that ePortfolio serves as a digital platform for me to record my progress in learning and showcase various aspects of my work throughout the year. Rather than handing in essays throughout the term and then just discarding them afterwards, an ePortfolio allows me to have all of my work in one centralized place and to be able to reflect on it afterwards. I’ve always viewed blogging as being constrained to writing or posting around one specific theme, such as food blogs, political blogs, and the like. Unlike blogs, you aren’t restricted to adding content relating to just one topic for an ePortfolio; you can create multiple categories to display all aspects of the work you produce. Typically blogs are expected to be regularly updated, since they generally attract audiences who actively follow the blog for new posts and updates. Personally, I think that ePortfolios are more flexible; you can post or add new items as frequently or sporadically as you wish, depending on whenever you deem your work to be worthy of being displayed to the world. It can include any number of items depending on how the author chooses to curate their ePortfolio, whether it be strictly essays or a combination of photos, videos, text posts etc. Although I am a science major, I would like to continue adding to my ePortfolio after CLST 211 ends and treat it almost like an online resume. I would probably create pages/categories where I can post about the research that I’m working on or about my extracurriculars.
