{"id":81,"date":"2011-04-02T19:12:48","date_gmt":"2011-04-03T03:12:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/limnos\/?p=81"},"modified":"2011-04-02T19:13:13","modified_gmt":"2011-04-03T03:13:13","slug":"81","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/limnos\/2011\/04\/02\/81\/","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a class=\"size-auto\" title=\"Water governance nelson jatel NRTEE Okanagan basin water board\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nrtee-trnee.com\/eng\/issues\/programs\/water\/penticton-water-governance-workshop-eng.php\" target=\"_blank\">Water Governance Workshop<\/a><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Penticton, British<\/strong><strong> Columbia &#8211; February 22, 2011 <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.obwb.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nrtee-trnee.com\/eng\/issues\/programs\/water\/images\/okanagan-basin-200px.gif\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"58\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On <strong>February 22, 2011<\/strong>, the NRTEE hosted a one-day workshop  in collaboration with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.obwb.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">Okanagan Basin Water Board<\/a> in Penticton, British Columbia.<\/p>\n<p>The  purpose of the workshop was to explore how   collaborative governance  might assist in achieving effective, efficient, and   equitable water  use by the natural resources sectors. An additional aim was to   develop  a better understanding of criteria for assessing when collaborative    water governance models should be pursued.<\/p>\n<p>This event was part of a national initiative   from the  NRTEE on the sustainable use of water by the natural resource sectors    in Canada. The overall objectives of the   program are to address the  following questions:<\/p>\n<p>(1) Does Canada have enough water to support   economic  growth while maintaining the health of our country\u2019s ecosystems, given    that the development of the natural resource sectors is on the rise    (agriculture, mining, forestry and energy production), and with  pressures on   water resources due to increasing population and a  changing   climate?<\/p>\n<p>(2) Is Canada in a position to manage water   resources sustainably for future generations?<\/p>\n<p>http:\/\/www.nrtee-trnee.com\/eng\/issues\/programs\/water\/penticton-water-governance-workshop-eng.php<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Water Governance Workshop Penticton, British Columbia &#8211; February 22, 2011 On February 22, 2011, the NRTEE hosted a one-day workshop in collaboration with the Okanagan Basin Water Board in Penticton, British Columbia.
