In the first consultation with us at LiveWell, together we will be able to conduct a series of fitness tests set forth from by The Canadian Physical Activity, Fitness & Lifestyle Approach Protocol (CPAFLA) to get an idea where your current health status lies. These tests include pre-screening, healthy body composition, healthy aerobic fitness, and healthy musculoskeletal fitness.
Consultation
Pre-screening
PAR-Q – Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire. This document allows us to see if it may be in the best interest for you to meet with your doctor before participating in physical activity/exercise program and /or health/fitness appraisal.
Healthy Body Composition
Weight (kg), Height (cm), BMI (kg/m2), Waist Circumference (cm), sum of five skinfold sites on the body to get the most accurate representation to where you life in health status lies.
Note: Skin fold testing is not mandatory if you are not comfortable it being preformed.
Healthy Aerobic Fitness
Is a fitness test that is used to determine your aerobic capacity. It predicts a client’s maximum capacity without taking the client to their maximum.
The common test used by CSEP is the Modified Canadian Aerobic Fitness Test or simply put the mCAFT. This test is a step test that predicts maximal aerobic capacity. In the test clients lift their own body weight up and down two steps at a prescribed rate. At the stage they finish at we are then able to calculate your predicted aerobic capacity.
Healthy Musculoskeletal Fitness
In order for use to provide the best, most reliable information on you, a musculoskeletal fitness test can be used but is not necessary. This part of testing we are able to determine your strengths and weaknesses when if comes to your muscles. We are able to test your lower back flexibility and strength, muscular endurance, grip strength and lower leg power. The tests include;
Grip Strength
Push-Ups
Sit & Reach
Partial Curl-Ups
Vertical Jump
Peak Leg Power
Back Extension
From these measurements we are able to determine;
Composite Scoring Musculoskeletal Fitness – Combined grip strength, push-ups, sit & reach, partial curl-ups, leg power, back extension to determine overall muscular health.
Composite Scoring Back Fitness – Healthy Physical Activity Questionnaire, Waist Circumference, Sit & Reach, Partial Curl-Ups and Back Extension to determine overall back health.
*All results are calculated and compared to Canadian norms. This normative information was gathered on 500 Canadians at random ages 15-69 years of age.
