  1. Absolutely, Dr. Boroditsky’s insights resonate deeply with my own experiences and reflections. Being brought up in a specific cultural atmosphere, we inherit not just language but a whole spectrum of values, beliefs, and paradigms that shape our worldview. These paradigms often operate subtly, influencing our perceptions and actions in profound ways.

One paradigm that I’ve observed personally is the win-lose or scarcity paradigm. Growing up, competition was often emphasized, and success was framed as a finite resource, attainable by a few. This deeply ingrained mindset sometimes hinders collaboration and the belief in abundance. It took conscious effort and exposure to alternative perspectives to shift towards a more collaborative and abundance-oriented worldview.

Dr. Boroditsky’s notion of cultural views reducing cognitive entropy is a powerful reminder of how our lenses of perception can become narrow within the cultural frameworks we are accustomed to. Swimming in our own culture as you expressed, we might miss the richness and diversity that other cultures offer. It’s indeed challenging to comprehend what we haven’t been exposed to, making exposure, acceptance, and appreciation of diverse perspectives crucial for broadening our understanding.
