Just posting two articles of interest. One is on the Value of Listening. It provides some discussion about how students really do not listen to each other, and to consider some strategies to implement in your classroom. Further to this article, is to consider (as we noted many times) how performance activities or presentations can also help students become better listeners.
The second article talks about the potential value of having students memorize and present/perform a poem. How students remember the poem, the process, etc. While we have discussed the anxieties students may encounter when asked to memorize text, to consider what are the potential merits/challenges, and how might we ease students into this process?
