Yes, one aspect of racism–or better, its structural conditions–is the way in which one race or identity is constructed as “normal” and so taken for granted, while other experiences are made to seem or feel abnormal, leading to self-consciousness and hyper-awareness. The dominant don’t have to question or ask who they are. The dominated do.
