1. Finding connections is important, for sure. If that’s your reading “super power,” it’s a pretty good one to have!

   But I’m not sure how much the surveillance and paranoia in Cold War Eastern Europe has in common with political and social circumstances today… It would be worth talking about (and maybe we will talk about it in class). First, isn’t the surveillance today more from the private sector (Google, Meta), rather than the government? Second, I also feel that, say, the Trump administration doesn’t really hide anything: they are rather (I would say, shamelessly) proud of what they are doing, and do it in plain sight. (And yet they still get away with it…)

   But yes, this is complicated and, again, your video makes me think it’s worth discussing in class.

Oh, but I do like your thoughts towards the end of the video (again, I comment as I am watching!) about the differences between the forms of control under the Cold War and today… that today we feel we have freedom and autonomy, whereas in somewhere like Romania (as you say) “They know they are being controlled.” This is a good point. Yes.

3. Hey Logan!

   I think it’s so cool that you’ve decided to post vlogs! That point that you made about ICE agents, it’s true, their mask/uniform is their trenchcoat. The same paranoia that Dina and the other characters feel, is probably similar to those affected by ICE agents. That connection is relevant in today’s world for sure.

   “The Elites are trying to pit us against each other”, dude exactly, in an ideal world, the right and left would come together to take down the elites. All this suspicion, paranoia, division is just another distraction so the elites can keep controlling us.
