Hello, my name is Lucy. I was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada. I’m an elementary school teacher. I’ve been teaching abroad for the last ten years and moved back home to Vancouver last summer. I spent time in Macau, which people refer to as the Las Vegas of the East, and in Shenzhen, also known as the Silicon Valley of China. Both places have solidified and nourished my craft as an educator and leader. The most special thing that I keep close to my heart is that I have made life-long friends from all over the world. My favourite pastimes include Zumba dancing, hiking, cooking, and scuba diving! I’ve been learning Salsa and Bachata, hopefully, I’ll get better at it.
Three fun facts about me:
- I am super scared of heights
- I am the only left-handed person in my family
- I ran away from school on the first day of Kindergarten thinking that it was home time during recess (You can imagine the panic when my mom got a call at work informing her that her child was missing. Thankfully, she found me waiting by the door of our house. We lived a short walk away from school)
ETEC 540 will be my 7th course in the MET journey. I am excited to learn with and from all of you this semester!
