Hello Comm101, today is my first day with you and I am hoping that we can enjoy the rest of the three month together.
Today in class, I was pretty impressed with how people can gather their ideas together and come up with new thoughts. We discussed about whether governments should setting the prices for products. In my opinion, I thought that it depends on different products. I initially related the pre-reading article about the Russian government controls the Vodka prices. I think that products like medicine, cigarettes, and guns’ prices should be under government’s control. Medicine’s price has to be affordable for everyone; cigarettes’ price should be set up a bit higher to keep people healthy; and gun’s prices has to be very high to reduce the risk of people getting injured.
In the group discussion, my group mates and I gave out our opinion about government should be involved in setting the price of medication. The price for the medication can’t be too high therefore it is easier for those in poverty to access.
I actually enjoyed Comm101 pretty much. I hope that next class I can get more involved and try to give out my idea to the class.
