In my opinion, the company is doing a great job on advertising. Customers get exciting when they know some products are limited edition. The company is using invitation to attract customers and makes them think that the phone is different from others (which you could buy them everywhere). Invitation is also like a baton, it passes on the business from one customer to another. OnePlus One phone also has an attractive price. According to its website, a 64G OnePlus One phone is only selling for $299 where as the similar products like Phone 5s and Samsung are selling for $799 and $250 with a 2 year contract. OnePlus One phone, with its competitive price, satisfies different groups of people. It sells its product online which avoids the store lease cost. Although OnePlus One phone seems very desirable, it still comes up with problems with warranty service. And some customers like face-to-face shopping assistant where online store is not able to provide that service.
I believe that OnePlus One Phone still has lots of opportunities in the market. For example, it can start building some experience store where customers can get more chance to play around with their product.
