Resume 2.0 – E-Marketed

While seeking inspiration for crafting my resume for employment after my graduation in April 2012, I came across a useful infographic on Mashable.

To sum up, here are some key tips I took away:

  • Hypertext links in your resume to allow the reader to go beyond the black and white pages of your resume (consider using QR codes for easy smartphone access to link to an online portfolio).
  • Consider uploading your resume online, and improving its SEO for potential employers to easily find and access your resume online.
  • “33 of employers admitted they decided to not offer a job after reviewing a social media profile” — the importance of branding yourself online, and keeping a consistent, professional image. A good way to start doing this would be to search for your name on search engines like Google and see what the links lead to.
Especially in the world of e-marketing, I find that modern resumes today are much more competitive and compelling for the employer to read. Below is the infographic for your learning. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
