As a Stage Manager I need a kit.  The kit is bare bones right now – COVID has hurt live theatre.  But the core of the bag is posed and ready to go.  Each of the objects holds multiple meanings:

My redesign process focussed on highlighting the multiple modalities of meaning by integrating multiple media into the final product.  The audio requirement was a limiting factor for me.   Audio seemed to require some sort of video.  But I don’t have the technical requirements for that so I found a compromise.  The Canva Slide Show allowed me to find a medium with which I could combine audio, imagery and text.  But I was also thinking of the multiple meanings of text.  If this exercise is about objects themselves acting as text then the implication is that each of the objects has multiple meanings.  So I turned to the dictionary.  All of the definitions in the slideshow are from the online OED.  But many of those definitions are unsatisfying – at least in terms of how I use or think of the object.  Hopefully I have also encouraged the viewer to consciously consider what each of these objects mean to them.
