Biography

My name is Luke Zhang and I am a 5th year Science student currently majoring in Computer Science at the University of British Columbia. My family lived in Beijing, Osaka in Japan before finally settling down in Vancouver where I have stayed in the last fifteen years. This is my last semester at UBC before graduating and I wanted to take this opportunity to improve my technical writing skills, resume and online portfolios such as LinkedIn before venturing off into the job market. In the past I have completed a couple of co-op placements at Sierra Wireless, Netgear and RESAAS. My responsibilities included manual testing, unit testing, web API integration, database design and management, and backend business logic. I am proficient in Java, C#, and SQL. I hope to pursue a career in software engineering or web development after graduation.

In my spare time I like to play video games particularly the online multiplayer game, League of Legends. The last couple of years I attended the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) in Seattle where the North American Championships were held. The expo was great and showcased the latest video games and technology such as the virtual reality Oculus Rift headset. My other hobbies include playing street hockey, jogging and hiking mostly at the Grouse Grind.

I am looking forward to working with everyone this term!
