Doc 7.2 The Peronist Version of the Speech

Posted by in Uncategorized

This speech by General Peron and his wife Evitas, was dedicated to the Argentine people in 1810; where descamisados gathered together to demonstrate their support for General Peron. The descamisados were the workers who supported Peronists, and was also the derogatory term used by Argentinian elites to insult followers of general Peron.

General Peron was greatly loved by the people. They were forgotten and ignored by the corrupt politicians, those who were not patriots, and the imperialists left and right wings. Peron supported them and gave them hope for a better future. The traitors and sellouts were addressed because of the misery they caused to the local hard working people who were loyal to their fatherland. Peron was among the only to not rely on the elites for support during his presidency, as he believed solely in his people. In addition, the Argentinians felt a connection, as he came from the same place they did, a background of poverty. Moreover, he represented success and freedom. This was reflected by his position in government, which gave an idea of opportunity and prosperity for his fatherland, which allowed for strong support from the Argentinian people.
