Just like facebook and twitter, going green is considered trendy in the business world. Companies are at a disadvantage if they don’t promote their environmental initiatives because going green is great for company PR. The public wants to know that the companies they are supporting are environmentally responsible and most companies have entire campaigns and website pages dedicated to their sustainability efforts.

Not only does it improve the public’s perception of the company, but becoming more environmentally friendly also cuts company costs in the long run. By designing more energy efficient office buildings and by simply turning off lights, companies can become more cost-effective. For companies that don’t specialize in innovation, there are even organizations, such as Global Green and the US Green Building Council, which specialize in helping companies become more environmentally friendly.
With all the benefits that being environmentally friendly provides, companies have no excuse for not increasing their green awareness. This widespread green initiative has forced companies to develop innovative production technology that reduce company emissions and packaging. A greener economy is in our future and it is to each company’s benefit to become more environmentally responsible.
