Proposed Bridge Site 1

The friction costs associated with the bridge site north of the city are as follows:

  • Cost Path:

    2252

  • Euclidean Path:

    18569

Proposed Bridge Site 2

The friction costs associated with the bridge site next to the current bridge are as follows:

  • Cost Path:

    4331

  • Hand Drawn

    20943

  • Euclidean Path:

    19080

  • Construction Costs of Various Bridge Types

    Final Result

The path with the lowest friction value was the Cost Path to proposed bridge site 1 and the cheapest bridge type to construct is a bascule bridge and it of course costs less to construct a smaller bridge. Overall it appears that the lower friction value for the Cost Path doesn’t make up for the fact that to construct a larger bridge the cost is much greater and thus the best solution appears to be to use the Cost Path to proposed bridge site 2 and to construct a bascule bridge.
