Last weekend, a squad of Nickelback lovers and myself went to the “Nickelback: Feed the machine tour” which was a crazy experience. While I can’t say I am a huge fan, I do know a lot of their songs so it was fun to sing along.
The show was opened by Shamans Harvest (which we skipped) and Cheap Trick (who were good 20 years ago and are now riding that fame). Only caught the last half of Cheap Trick, but I thought they were pretty boring.
This however was the perfect foil for Nickelback, who were anything but boring once they hit the stage. Playing only 2 songs off their new album (1 too many) they mainly stuck to their hits, which was a good call. Chad might possibly be the biggest Jerk of all time, but the crowd loved him for it and he made the audience feel welcome. While I wish they played a couple more hits instead of a couple mediocre covers, I thought overall it was a great show.
Would recommend to a friend, even if you are not a fan of them they put on a good show. Needless to say, the Machine was fed.
