Hello, I am Michael De Angelis. Some of my favourite activities and passions\u00a0include playing soccer, exploring BC and learning new concepts within Technology Education. I grew up in North Burnaby and graduated from Burnaby North Secondary. I was always involved in Technology Education during my time in high school, as I developed a passion for the subject area. I wanted to pursue my passion for Technology Education in post secondary leading me to graduating from the Technology Teacher Education program at BCIT. I will also be obtaining a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of British Columbia upon successful completion of the BeD program in August 2016. Aside from \u00a0my studies, I have always had a passion for soccer. I grew up playing the sport and still continue to play to this day. During the summer months, I love to explore the beautiful province of British Columbia. I love to explore new hikes and go camping.<\/p>\n
As a developing professional I believe it is vital to build new professional relationships with others in the field. There are so many different approaches to teaching, so many different philosophies and expectations. As a growing professional and as a new teacher freshly out of the UBC B.ed program, I think it is very important to absorb as much information in the first years of my career. There is so much to learn. I know my passion is Technology Education. Tech-Ed is such a broad umbrella with classes such as automotive, woodwork, drafting, electronics, robotics and programming, drafting and design and much \u00a0more. I am still trying to figure out where I can plant my seed within the Tech-Ed in which I can develop a sense of community and self development.\u00a0\u00a0Of course this is all dependant on what school I will eventually end up at and what programs they have to offer.<\/p>\n
The future definitely excites me, I know the first few years are going to be difficult as a new teacher I am starting from scratch. I have my three month practicum under my belt and thats about it. However, I will stay optimistic and take the challenges as the come!<\/p>\n
