I’m finally putting all that information, gleaned from hours upon hours, pages upon pages of notes, to use! I’ve moved slipped pins, adjusted reeds and mouthpiece placement (on the instrument, unstuck pads, adjusted embouchure, changed reed strength, re-articulated joints, and even unbent a sax octave key.
Now that I actually get to use it, I think I’ll retain it! Jan has started telling the students I’m a miracle worker, getting wheezy or silent horns to speak clearly. I wouldn’t go so far as “miracle” worker, but diligent, yes. Nonetheless, it sure feels good to help make things function again!
