LESSON OBJECTIVES

·         Students will be able to identify nature objects that are the same colour as their paint chip

·         Work with a partner collaboratively

·         Share their observations orally with the class

MATERIALS & RESOURCES

 

·         Book- The Look Book By: Jane Beik Moncure (1982)

·         Paint Chips

·         Outdoor Attire

ACTIVITY Hook:

Read the book: The Look Book by: Jane Beik Moncure (1982)

Activity:

–          Have a group discussion about what objects we can see outside with our eyes

–          Talk about safety- stay with partner, in boundaries, come back when called

–          Discuss outdoor activity: Each pair will get a paint chip. Their job is to look for objects outside that match with that colour and remember them. Later as a class we will be coming together and discussing what objects we saw.

–          Get students dressed and ready for going outside and meet on the carpet

–          Organize the students in pairs, have them line up with partner

–          Washroom break before we go outside

–          Take students out to school grounds, establish boundaries

–          Give each pair a paint chip and let them explore

–          Visit a few different areas: Garden, field, and tree

 

Conclusion:

–          Return to larger group and share what they observed with their classmates

DIFFERENTIATION ·         Ensure challenged learners and/or ELL learners are partnered with a peer that will assist and encourage them to participate in the activities
ASSESSMENT

 

·         The teacher will ask the students to name the objects that matched with their paint chip, does the colour they have match with the object they are stating
