Being A Guest In Kindergarten

To those who have been teaching kindergarten for years I give you the utmost respect. For those teachers or guests visiting a kindergarten classroom for a day here are some tips to help you with the students.

1. You need to verbally and visually model everything you expect them to do.
2. You need to ensure you get all their attention before you start speaking.
3. If they don’t understand your question try re-wording it.
4. Do not let a few students dominate the questions/answers.
5. They can use scissors and glue independently.
6. They can clean up after themselves so let them.
7. Ensure you give plenty of time for clean-up.
8. Make the activities fun and engaging.
9. They don’t like sitting too long.
10. Songs will help them learn the content.
