Definition of Phylogeny
The definition assignment enabled me to write about a topic of interest, phylogeny, and explore the types of definitions that are utilized in communications studies and technical writing. I used the parenthetical definition, sentence definition, and expanded definition to inform readers about the term phylogeny, or tree of life, and to provide specific examples plus an illustration.

Formal Report Proposal
The formal report proposal assignment allowed me to think about the research project in more depth and decide what I wanted to focus on. By implementing the suggestions for improvement that Ruth provided, classmate of ENGL 301, I believe I was able to place more focus on a pre-established issue that existed and how this impacted both customer and public perception. When I created my questionnaire I was able to specifically address ‘pain points’ that customers face and what can be done to help address the lack of a recycling program at Bath and Body Works.
Complaint Letter Commentary
This complaint letter and response was on the topic of a car service miscommunication between the customer and business. The customer letter clearly indicates that the charge was not authorized plus the action that should be taken to correct the problem. However, upon investigation, the manager responded with a ‘bad news’ letter communication the customer error. These letters illustrate how one can write in a professional manner to request an action item, and that the response is not always going to be positive.
Peer Review Commentary
This review written for Ruth was a critique of writing style, grammar and content, as well as overall impressions. I believe that the feedback and suggestions that I provided, in addition to highlighting what was done well, would be useful for Ruth to finalize her Writing with You Attitude assignment. It clearly outlined strengths and weaknesses, and offered assistance if needed in future.
