Hello and welcome to my ETEC540 page! My hope for this homepage is to give you a brief introduction to who I am before delving into the contents of the course. I am looking forward to collaborating with you in this course and learning from you all!
My name is Trista Svennes and I’m in my fourth semester of the MET program. I was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta and live here with my husband. Together we have a cat named Roshi and I’m okay to admit that i’m a bit of a crazy cat mom! My husband Colten and I enjoy all things Disney, playing board games, hiking, going to Hockey Games, watching movies, and visiting local breweries.
In my professional life, I am a teacher. I am currently teaching at a fully online grade 1-9 school. In my teaching career I have spent the majority of my time in Grade 3 and teaching Music but this year school year I have been teaching Grade 1.
This is my sixth year of teaching, and while learning how to teach online the last couple of years, I really started to love embedding technology into my everyday practice and it’s what motivated me to pursue my Masters in Ed. Tech. Since teaching online, I have really enjoyed seeing the positive impact that technology can have on teachers and students.
