You jolt awake at the sound of your alarm clock. 6:45am, as usual. Feeling extremely tired, as usual. You look at the clock and it's 8:20am. You probably have time to go to Starbucks and treat yourself to a pistachio latte (with steamed oat milk💖) and get to school just before the warning bell. After morning announcements are over, you get your class ready for the math test. A few groan, but no one is surprised. Good. Hopefully this means they have studied. You promise to let them have extra "no tech free time" since they've worked hard this week. The students are happy and you just got an extra period to mark those math tests. Everyone wins. Hoping the class will follow routines even in your absence, you run off to the photocopier. Another teacher is there. You run to the second photocopier. It's your fault for being disorganized. But they don't need to know that. You ask them to put their books away and announce that you will, very generously, give them one more day to study for their math test. The class cheers and thanks you and gives you the best, kindest teacher award. You sip your latte and pat yourself on the back. The class is in disarray. Students are running around the class. Three of them have knocked over your book display.
