The Red Book of Westmarch exists now in a number of copies made for the use of Mayor Samwise Gamgee’s grandchildren. Other copies are held by families throughout the Shire, and we are fortunate that several of these have been donated or loaned for this exhibit.

Join us for a reading of selections from the Red Book, on 3 November at noon, one of the museums’ special events to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Bywater and the events that preceded it.
