ABOUT ME
Apr 4th, 2012 by Minsun Sung
Hi, my name is Minsun Sung. I’m from Seoul, South Korea. My major is Chemistry(at Chung-Ang University, Seoul) and I am interested in food industry and pharmaceutical technology. I’m familiar with using Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and Photoshop.
I worked at a Math Academy from Dec. 2009 to Jan.2011 when I was in Korea. My job was to assist the tutors. I supported the teachers by helping the students with unsolved math problems and I implemented computer skills by inputting attendance records and exam marks into an excel file. From this experience I developed leadership and responsibility as an assistant.
I am interested in volunteering works.
My first volunteering job was at the Chung-Ang University Hospital(July 2010 – January 2011). Every Friday I went to the hospital and worked as a member. I helped the nurses in the ‘artificial kidney unit‘ and did the hemostasis and changed the sheets on the patients’ beds. From this, I gained responsibility and the ability to care for other people.
I went to Mongolia for ten days in August 2010. I went there as a volunteer member with an organization ‘Korean Open Doctors Society’. The organization’s aim was to help those who aren’t capable of getting any medical services. I helped people to see the doctor by taking the patient to the right specialist. Also , I helped the doctors do their job easily by checking the patients’ temperature and asking if they have any medical history. I learned how to cooperate with other people in order to complete the work efficiently.
I have started another volunteering job since Novemver 2011. I work as a VANDI which is a name for a volunteer member in the organization ‘Green Umbrella Childfund’. I translate 5 to 10 letters every week from English into Korean to help poor children by using my language ability. I do this work to help the sponsor to understand the sponsored child’s English thank-you letters. When I do this job, I feel like I am developing responsibility and gaining self-worth by using my English ability.
