BIO

Dear Visitors,

My name is MinZhang Si. I consider myself a well-rounded person who is always eager to learn and looking for new ideas. I am proud of my knowledge of finance and computer science, and, equally importantly, my writing skills. s

I went to Gleneagle Secondary School and, in 2020, graduated from SFU with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. I love finance-related calculation and risk management, and I am a big fan of analyses to do with commerce and market trends. In the future, I would like to be a business analyst, working at big firms like JP Morgan. However, after some careful planning and thinking, I realize that I need more knowledge and skills related to computer technologies. Therefore, I have decided to return to school.

Currently, I am working towards a Bachelor of Computer Science, and this is my first year in the program at UBC, doing my second degree. I am interested in software development, AI, fintech, and all questions and topics related to the fundamentals of computer programming. One day, I wish to design a high-frequency trading platform and test for its reliability and applicability. I am eager to bring in my own academic background in Finance and professional experiences and blend them with computer science. I believe that backgrounds in finance and computer science, together with my writing skills, will give me an edge in the job market.

As for my work experiences, I am a bookkeeper at Mitchell Island Terminal Ltd, reviewing data information, checking entries, and preparing for payrolls for employees. I worked as an administrative assistant in 2017 for Tencent Holding Ltd, helping to manage staffing and communications with visitors and coworkers. In 2016, I was an operation assistant for Canadian Students Assistance Association, planning routine operations and projects and taking charge of email correspondences with various parties, from volunteers to community leaders to NGOs.

Finally, let me introduce my cats to you, Mojito (top) and Mocha (bottom). They’ve been my most loyal pals. I hope you have pals to support you through your day and work as well.
