My philosophy of education centers around the concept of inclusion. By creating a safe learning environment where students feel the confidence to take risks. I believe that making children feel included as important contributors to their classroom is an essential starting point. Once students know that their teacher will support them in all the risks they are willing to take, and that their peers will accept and encourage them, a much richer learning environment can be produced. I want to create a learning environment where curiosity is celebrated and encouraged, with the intention of developing a mindset for life long learning to occur.
Also, it is my belief that it is essential that we equip students with strong social and emotional skills in order to be successful in school, and in life. I believe that teaching children about how to accept others, especially during times of conflicting viewpoints, is a fundamental aspect of creating a safe environment. Additionally, I believe in the power of laughter. It is essential to teach a child to see the humor in challenging situations, because mistakes are inevitable.
