Thanks to those of you who have handed in your paragraphs and homework. We will be starting literature circles next class so we went over some of the roles in a lit circle.

HW:

  • Each person in the table group has chosen a role to take on. Please complete your role sheet in the lit circle for the story “A Rose for Emily”.

Hi class,

Today we went over the paragraph criteria and practiced integrating quotations. Please see the paragraph criteria in the previous post and we will do more quotation practice next class!

Hi class,

Today was a short class due to early dismissal. We went over examples of symbolism and the way symbolism is sometimes used in literature. We also talked about ways to organize our thoughts and annotations and shared some of our findings with the class. Attached here is the document we were working on:

Today we talked about the difference between the connotation and denotation of words and I did a demonstration of short story annotation.

Please start thinking about ways you can organize your ideas and annotations.

Hi class,

Today we played a kahoot to review the literary analysis terms and read “The Lottery”.

HW:

Do a close reading and analysis of “The Lottery”. Try to underline or highlight the literary devices the author uses to communicate the theme to us. Write down your thoughts. Refer to the “Analysis of Literature” notes I gave you.

I will be checking to see that your copy of the “Lottery” has been carefully thought about and analyzed.
