Below is my self evaluation after completing FNH 480. This course built upon various aspects we’ve learned in FNH 380 and 381 with direct linkages to our future in internship. There is still much to be learned throughout internship, and I look forward to monitoring and evaluating my progress as I move forward. FNH 480 Self Evaluation (2018)
This past year of the program has helped tick off many more ICDEP competencies. Highlighted in the blue colour are the courses and experiences that have facilitated this. There are a few gaps that I’m sure will be covered during internship. I look forward to my internship with Vancouver Coastal Health in the Fall of 2018! What? On October 6th, we had the opportunity to convene with students from various interdisciplinary fields to work on a case activity related to assisted suicide. This was the third i-ethics session we have had since entering into dietetics and proved to be an interesting one with a somewhat emotional topic. — So What? What? As a part of our year 4 curriculum, we had the opportunity to assess and counsel a client in the same session. This was done over Skype. My client had two main nutrition-related issues: 1. Constipation (from medications due to Charcot Marie Tooth) 2. Plant-based protein sources for a vegetarian/vegan diet Many other health concerns arose during our session and we worked together to sort through what was relevant and what I, as a student, felt comfortable and capable addressing. —– So What? What? On February 2nd, May and I visited the Reproductive Mental Health Clinic to shadow Anita Gillespie. It was a quiet Friday morning and we were lucky to have a tour of not only her clinic but nearby clinics such as the Perinatal Clinic, Eating Disorders Clinic (inpatient and outpatient), and other sections of Women’s Hospital.
