Each leader voted for their favourite local and global initiatives that they would be interested in spearheading.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The results are in&#8230; Here are the most popular initiatives for each category!<\/p>\n<p><strong>LOCAL INITIATIVES<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Environment:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conserve-energy-future.com\/reasons-why-plastic-bags-should-be-banned.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ban the Bag!<\/a> to reduce the use of single-use plastic bags (52%).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Hunger:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li>Volunteer at a local food bank (90%).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Homelessness:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinterest.ca\/explore\/homeless-bags\/?lp=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Smile Bags<\/a>, a.k.a. care packages (67%).\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>This initiative was completed in February 2018.<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Inclusion:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.we.org\/we-schools\/program\/campaigns\/we-rise-above\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WE Rise Above<\/a>, rise above cyberbullying campaign (57%)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.we.org\/we-schools\/program\/campaigns\/we-are-love\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WE are Love<\/a> (19%)\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>This initiative was completed in February 2018.<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>GLOBAL INITIATIVES<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Zinc Saves Lives Battery Recycling Program\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zincsaveskids.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/www.zincsaveskids.org<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.teck.com\/responsibility\/global-citizenship\/zinc-and-health\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/www.teck.com\/responsibility\/global-citizenship\/zinc-and-health\/<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>The Northern Birthday Box Project\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/windsor\/facebook-groups-helps-southern-sponsors-spread-birthday-cheer-to-northern-families-1.4252895\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/windsor\/facebook-groups-helps-southern-sponsors-spread-birthday-cheer-to-northern-families-1.4252895<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.we.org\/we-schools\/program\/campaigns\/we-are-silent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WE are Silent\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Other noteworthy results<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Overall, GPE leaders are most interested in carrying out local initiatives to positively combat hunger (43%) and save our environment (29%).<\/li>\n<li>All of the Grade 6 leaders have opted to donate part of the proceeds of the Young Entrepreneurs project to a cause of their choice.<\/li>\n<li>76% are in favour of volunteering with the seniors in our community.<\/li>\n<li>86% would like to be part of GPE&rsquo;s Team Pride and GPE&rsquo;s Global Citizens Team.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At our 1st official Leadership Team meeting, our leaders had the opportunity to let their voices be heard by completing a survey.
