Educational Technology Tutorials from ETEC 533-S2015 Course

Once again I have been teaching a graduate summer course for the UBC Master of Education Technology Program. While teaching an online course all summer long is a challenge, teaching this course is always very inspirational. ETEC533 is titled: Technology in mathematics and science classroom. I always learn a lot from this course as the goal is to explore how technology can be implemented to change how we teach mathematics and science. As part of the course, the students (who all are mathematics and science educators) explore various technologies and prepare a professional development day that they could implement in their own schools. I am always amazed how much we learn from it. This year, the choices of technologies were: Google Apps for Education; GeoGebra, Bring your Own Device (BYOD); iPads; Interactive White Boards (SMART Boards) and Flipped Learning. The tutorials are a great resource for anybody who wants to learn more about the opportunities these technologies offer or who is preparing a workshop or a professional development day for their colleagues. I cannot imagine a better outcome of the course than not only learning something new but also creating a resource for other educators. I am very grateful to my students for being so creative and hard working during their own summer vacation!
