A few personal highlights:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sites.hamline.edu\/~arundquist\/\" target=\"_blank\">Prof. Andy Rundquist from Hemlin<\/a> University spoke about assessment in upper level undergraduate physics courses. I was especially interested how he uses tablets and other technology to evaluate students&#8217; thinking about problems. His focus is on student reasoning and the way he assesses it is worth paying attention at. I also noticed he uses a LiveScribe pen&#8230;. He gave an excellent talk and showed very good examples of how it is done.<\/p>\n<p>I also enjoyed listening to plenaries about new Science Education Framework standards in the United States and a new focus on assessment. <a href=\"http:\/\/litd.psch.uic.edu\/people\/us\/pellegrino\/\" target=\"_blank\">Prof. Jim Pellegrino<\/a> gave a very interesting talk about it.<\/p>\n<p>I also took part in an excellent session about student reasoning and enjoyed the presentation by<a href=\"http:\/\/emp.byui.edu\/PYPERB\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Brian Pyper,<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www4.ncsu.edu\/~rwchabay\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ruth Chabay<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.physics.ohio-state.edu\/directory_pages\/detail.php3?id=85\" target=\"_blank\">Bruce Patton<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A very interesting conference on Physics Education took place on August 3-4, 2011 in Omaha, NE.
