Rutherford\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/mmilner\/files\/2011\/01\/jimoffice-300x201.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/mmilner\/files\/2011\/01\/jimoffice-300x201.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/mmilner\/files\/2011\/01\/jimoffice.jpg 968w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Today I had a chance to attend a very interesting and inspiring presentation by <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/F._James_Rutherford\" target=\"_blank\">Dr. Jim Rutherford<\/a>, who today was awarded an <a title=\"Oersted Medal\" href=\"http:\/\/www.aapt.org\/Programs\/awards\/oersted.cfm\" target=\"_blank\">Oersted Medal by the American Association of Physics Teaching<\/a>. This presentation was such a powerful experience for me. Dr. Rutherford is an example of a science educator who made a real difference in science teaching. And today (he is 86 years old!) Dr. Rutherford is working on a special web site <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scienceeducationencore.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">scienceeducationencore<\/a> for science educators.
