History is a subject I am deeply passionate about and thoroughly enjoy learning; many history topics interest me, and UBC has allowed me to nurture this interest. At UBC, I have had the opportunity to learn about various subjects in history; Mogul India, the British Empire, and Africa post-colonisation are all topics I have had the chance to investigate. Below are PDFs of a handful of History papers I have written that showcase my ability to write in a way different to technical writing.

Tarana Burke’s Me Too Movement has Failed African American Women

A recent Op-ed I wrote for a History of African Americans course I took. The op-ed investigates racial
stereotypes’ impact and lasting effects on social movements such as Me Too.

Memory of The Vietnam War

An extensive research essay I wrote for my history seminar last year. The piece investigates the Vietnam War and how memories of a historical event can be distorted, so people forget other countries’ involvement in the conflict.

The Power of Petroleum

A short research essay into the importance of petroleum in the Great War. I wrote the piece shortly before the invasion of Ukraine, and I feel as if this essay is even more poignant as we see once again the significant oil plays in global conflict.
