Recently I watched a video in youtube about an orchestra in Paraguay that uses instruments made out of reclaimed materials, this video inspired me to research and learn about making this kind of instruments. I think that these kind of practices can be incorporated to our curriculums as a way of exploring timbres, physical components of sound, and the social aspect of music making. Even though this is not new and many teachers have already used these ideas in their classrooms, I think we can use these instruments in new creative ways. Furthermore, I am working in the creation of material for ensembles constituted by these kind of instruments. I believe in an inclusive and cooperative cla ssroom environment and I think an experience like this can contribute to that. Another aspect I am interested in learning more about is: applications of technology in the music classroom. I believe that students’ literacies now a days are very much linked to the digital world and incorporating these elements into the class would make the lessons more relatable to them and their reality.
