{"id":1278,"date":"2012-06-29T06:57:12","date_gmt":"2012-06-29T13:57:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/mongolia\/?p=1278"},"modified":"2013-06-13T12:07:19","modified_gmt":"2013-06-13T19:07:19","slug":"seat-distribution-based-on-preliminary-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/mongolia\/2012\/seat-distribution-based-on-preliminary-results\/","title":{"rendered":"Seat Distribution based on Preliminary Results"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Combining the numbers from the General Election Commission in two previous posts (<a title=\"Preliminary Results from General Election Commission: First Past the Post\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/mongolia\/2012\/preliminary-results-from-gec-fptp\/\" target=\"_blank\">FPTP<\/a> and <a title=\"Preliminary Results from the General Election Commission: Proportional Representation\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/mongolia\/2012\/preliminary-results-from-gec-pr\/\" target=\"_blank\">PR<\/a>), we would arrive at the following seat distribution (relying on the earlier DP estimates of first-past-the-post races where the GEC didn&#8217;t want to call these races yet):<\/p>\n<p>Proportional representation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>DP 10 seats<\/li>\n<li>MPP 9<\/li>\n<li>MPRP 7<\/li>\n<li>CWGP 2<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; line-height: 24px;\">First-past-the-post:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 24px;\">DP 22 seats<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 24px;\">MPP 19<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 24px;\">MPRP 4<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 24px;\">Independent 3<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Yielding a total of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>DP 32 seats<\/li>\n<li>MPP 28<\/li>\n<li>MPRP 11<\/li>\n<li>Independents 3<\/li>\n<li>CWGP 2<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; line-height: 24px;\">Numerically possible coalitions to yield a 39 seat majority:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>DP + MPP = 60 seats<\/li>\n<li>DP + MPRP = 43 seats<\/li>\n<li>MPP + MPRP = 39 seats [thanks to a sharp-eyed reader for pointing this out to me]<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; line-height: 24px;\">Independents and CWGP could be added to the above coalitions, of course.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Not that these numbers are built not on the GEC numbers, but on the GEC numbers + results given by the DP, though only for the races that the GEC didn&#8217;t call.
