{"id":4429,"date":"2016-07-30T10:47:40","date_gmt":"2016-07-30T17:47:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/mongolia\/?p=4429"},"modified":"2016-08-02T12:06:20","modified_gmt":"2016-08-02T19:06:20","slug":"analyzing-mongolia-5years-anniversary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/mongolia\/2016\/analyzing-mongolia-5years-anniversary\/","title":{"rendered":"Five Years of Mongolia Focus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Julian Dierkes<\/em><\/p>\n<p>We <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/mongolia\/2011\/anti-chinese-attitudes-in-post-communist-mongolia\/\">posted our first blog on July 29, 2011<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The idea to blog grew out of discussions that <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/mongolia\/about-mongolia-today\/about-mendee\/\">Mendee<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/mongolia\/about-mongolia-today\/about-byambajav-dalaibuyan\/\">Byamba<\/a> and I were having almost every day at the office. Social developments in Mongolia, current politics, curious aspects of comparisons, etc., these were all discussions we were having. At some point, we decided that there were not enough discussions of this kind that connected different centres of interest in Mongolia around the world.<\/p>\n<p>At first we were speaking primarily to ourselves, though now accessible to others in our thinking.<\/p>\n<p>As we kept writing, and we haven&#8217;t missed a month yet. Later on, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/mongolia\/about-mongolia-today\/brandon-miliate\/\">Brandon Miliate<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/mongolia\/about-mongolia-today\/about-batdorj-bulgan\/\">Bulgan<\/a> joined our efforts and several guest authors have also contributed posts.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve published a total of 403 posts.<\/p>\n<p>The most read post has been &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/mongolia\/2012\/corruption-transparency-international\/\">Corruption in Mongolia according to Transparency International<\/a>&#8220;.
