Jamie’s text to speech activity was super interesting. She poses a great question for sure – did gesture precede speech in human history or vice versa. I’m of the mid that it would have to be gesture first – but there’s definitely something to the idea presented in her voice to text entry that gesture and speech developed simultaneously. I’d simply suggest that the gesture aspect was effectual first.
The number of times the word karma showed up in the text was interesting. I don’t suspect that that was actually said a whole bunch.
And in fact, Jamie went out of her way to break down and clarify every single mistake the speech to text machine made, so that was pretty impressive too.
