The canvas was painted by artists and UBC alumnae<strong>\u00a0Noelle Lee<\/strong> and <strong>Kyra Royo Fay<\/strong> and auctioned at the event where we launched the report Moving With Storms on June 26, 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The painting is titled <strong>Wealth Creation and Accumulation <\/strong>and is accompanied by the following text:\u00a0 &#8220;expropriation, land theft, dispossession, destitution, slavery, discrimination, gentrification, exclusion, militarization, surveillance, police brutality, genocides, ecocides, climate destabilization, biodiversity apocalypse, humanity on a path of premature extinction.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/decolonialfuturesnet.files.wordpress.com\/2023\/07\/040085ce-47d4-4187-90a5-052d9674a545-2.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"1133\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The complicity canvas was a subtle political gesture that acknowledged institutional and individual implications in systemic violence and unsustainability.
