This distance-education course aims to prepare students to tackle the challenges of changing technologies and globalized communications faced by writers. The course will also teach core writing techniques, protocols, and ethics, attributed to technical writing. Dr. Erika Paterson has divided the course into the following four units:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Principals, Practices, and People in English 301<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Designing a Report Proposal; Defining Terms with the Audience in Mind<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Designing a Report Outline &amp; Draft; Building your Resume and Job Application skills<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Drafting the Formal Report; Peer Review and Final Report; developing networking strategies<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That will provide opportunities to perfect the writing strategies inherent to communicating in business, professional, and technical written contexts. This will be accomplished through online collaboration with classmates, conducting peer reviews, and the creation and management of this particular blog space.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019m truly excited about this course! I\u2019ve always loved reading, and at one point considered becoming a writer, to be the one creating the stories I was so fond of. My expectations for this course are that it will help me to improve and develop my writing abilities to be at a level that meets the expectations of professional writers, and allows me to effectively engage with my audiences. The lessons in this course are structured to teach writing skills applicable to career building, and as a person who will be graduating soon, I hope to strengthen my writing skills to help me excel on my professional journey as well.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Feel free to comment and share what you&#8217;re most excited about learning during this course!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello and welcome!
