The rapid advances in technology alone has contributed to this change on multiple levels. In regards\u00a0to social and emotional learning (SEL), technology has\u00a0affected\u00a0the way\u00a0we socially interact with others and how we problem solve.<\/p>\n<p>Students are invested\u00a0with their technology because it provides them with access to everything they are and could be interested in, therefore, giving students the choice to include technology in their learning promotes student autonomy and engagement. However, it is critical that students have the opportunity to socially interact.<\/p>\n<p>What are some ways students can optimally engage with technology that involves social interaction?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/mpendree\/engaged\/\">Allocate cellphone breaks<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/mpendree\/engaged\/\">Educational Applications; research in groups, think-pair-share<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/mpendree\/engaged\/\">Communication; skype, pen-pals, flipped classroom, creating blogs, contacting teacher for support.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/mpendree\/engaged\/\">Research; group research projects<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/mpendree\/engaged\/\">All of the above<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; The students of today are graduating into a much different world.
