AWARDS AND HONOURS

● Received entrance scholarships upon beginning education at both Wilfrid Laurier University and the University of British Columbia.
● Received the Mark Lindemann Fund in 2016 from the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at Wilfrid Laurier University. This fund is awarded to the student with the highest GPA in two or more senior resource/land management courses at the end of their third year.
● Was listed on the Dean’s Honour Roll during all four years of study at Wilfrid Laurier University and graduated with distinction.

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

● Completed an honours thesis in the 2016-2017 school year titled “The Effectiveness of Video-based Observations on Wildlife Crossings in the Bow Valley”, which was based on field work performed near Canmore, Alberta.
● Participated in multiple field studies courses throughout undergraduate degree, gaining valuable experience in conducting in-field research and analyzing data. Courses included research trips to Pinery Provincial Park in Ontario, and the Bow Valley in Alberta.
● Currently in the developing stages of a Master’s thesis project, focusing on pollinator abundance and diversity within urban areas of the Okanagan.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Teaching Assistant, University of British Columbia, September 2018- present:

● GEOG 108- Earth Systems: Weather, Climate and Life
– Led two lab sections in which lab material and related concepts were presented and described to students
to ensure they understood the material prior to beginning their assignments.
– Assisted students in completing lab assignments by answering questions and explaining difficult
concepts.
– Aided in the marking of the course lab exam, based on material covered in lab sections.
– Invigilated the midterm for the course, as well as the final exams for two additional courses.

● EESC 101- Environmental Science, EESC 213- Introductory Forest and Science Management & EESC 341- Quaternary Paleoecology and Environmental Change
– Assisting course professors with the marking of exams and assignments.
– Preparing for and aiding the instructors and students during required field trips.

RELEVANT VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE

Wilfrid Laurier EcoHawks, 2014-2017:
● Assisted in promoting sustainability across campus through the planning and facilitation of various campus events, and the encouragement of the participation of the student body.
● Collaborated with various partners both on and off-campus (including the Laurier Sustainability Office) to make a positive environmental impact on not only the student community, but the Kitchener-Waterloo community as a whole.
● Served as the coordinator for the 2016-2017 school year, orchestrating committee events and meetings, and managing both an executive and general team.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND TRAINING

● Have taken numerous courses allowing for experience to be gained in statistical and spatial analysis through the use of tools such as R and ArcGIS. This includes the development of skills in geovisualization techniques through the use of ArcMap.
● Developed an understanding of many topics in the environmental field through coursework, including protected area management, socio-ecological systems, geomorphology, hydrology and climate change.
● Presented an idea alongside the rest of a team to the City of Kitchener in March 2017, as part of the Capstone Urban Sustainability Project (CUSP).
