Inquiry

While I recognize that, as a beginning teacher, I have many areas of potential growth, I am most interested in focusing on Social Emotional Learning (SEL). I feel that the most meaningful learning is only possible in an environment of safety, comfort, and respect, and to build this, students need to work on understanding themselves and those around them.

I reviewed my weekly reflections from this year, and looked specifically at some of the questions I have asked over the course of the year. While some of these were discussed with my Faculty or School Advisor, I feel like these might be great jumping off points for further inquiry:

What are the positive and negative consequences of pulling students out? Is it possible to run a wholly inclusive class?

How can designing small group activities around mixed-level achievement students be beneficial or detrimental?

How can I teach students to critically examine the work of other students, and still be respectful in their communications?

How much time should be allocated to team/community building in the classroom across all subject areas?

Students with moderate/severe behaviour issues: how can we still provide them positive attention, especially when they are so frequently disruptive during class?
