There are thousands of educational apps on the market but the focus for teachers is to best utilize apps that will enhance student learning and not to use apps simply because they are available. As Carrington states, &#8220;we need to ask ourselves, are we using\u00a0the technology to its best advantage to empower students to be all they can be or do we just use it because everyone\u2019s doing it&#8221; (p. 1). The advantage of utilizing creative apps \u00a0is that they help to promote a person-centred classroom where both the students and teachers can share ideas and knowledge.<\/p>\n<h3>Useful Apps<\/h3>\n<p>The following is a list of example apps that are currently being used at Riverside Secondary. The list is not a comprehensive list but showcases some of the possibilities of a BYOD program.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/edu\/products\/productivity-tools\/classroom\/\" target=\"_blank\">Google Classroom<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; Cloud based interactive classroom that utilizes Google Docs<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.adobe.com\/ca\/products\/reader-mobile.html\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0<strong>Adobe Reader<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0&#8211; Mobile PDF reader\/editor<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.docs.google.com\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Google\u00a0Drive Apps<\/strong><\/a>&#8211; Cloud based productivity apps that can be collaboratively created<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.edutopia.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Edmodo<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong> &#8211; Online classroom software to help flip classrooms<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dropbox.com\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Drop Box<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0&#8211; Cloud based data storage and sharing app<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gingerlabs.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Notebility<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; Cloud based note-taking app that can include text, pictures and video<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/quizlet.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Quizlet<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; Online study aid<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.deck.in\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Deck<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0&#8211; Presentation software that creates beautiful and modern presentations<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wevideo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">WeVideo<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; Cloud based video creator that can have multiple editors<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/getkahoot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Kahoot<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0&#8211; Online game-style quiz that makes formative assessment fun<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.educreations.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Educreations<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; Cloud based virtual white board app<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.aurasma.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Aurasma<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; Software to allow you to create an augmented reality<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/piktochart.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Piktochart<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; Innovative infographic poster creator<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nPerhaps, in the near future we will see classrooms with this.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/aThCr0PsyuA\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Click to\u00a0enlarge image Bloom&#8217;s Taxonomy 2.0 The updated version of Bloom&#8217;s Taxonomy is a more relevant model that incorporates examples of different apps that can be used to meet learning objectives.
