Spring break story sharing (two truths and a lie)

Introduction to budgets: what are they? Where and how are they used?

HOW you use a budget is very important. Many businesses that create really detailed budgets then try to stick to them rigidly, which can lead to unintended negative consequences (because employees change their behaviour to fit the budget, which may not be what’s best for the company).

Students will be doing personal budgets, and while it is important to try to stick to them, they should also be updated every now and then so they are in your best long-term interests.

DO:

-let a budget help you plan for your future

-control your expenses so you can stick to your budget

-be realistic about your budget (ask Mr Robson or Ms Soo if you need guidance here)

-look back and think how you can improve your budget

DON’T

-fear if you stray from your budget. Think about why you strayed (was it a valid reason?) and modify your future behaviour (or your budget!)

-budget your days down to the hour. Planning is useful, but so is being spontaneous!

-worry about the future. That’s for your parents and teachers to do 🙂  Just have fun, be thoughtful and kind along the way, and your future will be great.
