Mahla Shapiro is an Artist and Art Educator in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. She completed her BFA at Emily Carr University of Art and Design with a concentration on Print Media. Shapiro has completed two visual arts residencies. In the Fall of 2010 Shapiro lived in New York and continued her studio practice through the New York Studio Residency Program. While there, she also completed an Intaglio course at SVA under the guidance of Chris Creyts. In the Summer of 2011, Shapiro went to Ireland to The Burren College of Art where she completed a residency under the title Vandalism and the Landscape. Currently, Shapiro is completing her Bachelor of Education and looks forward to teaching a course she developed Prepare to Print at Mulgrave in the upcoming school year.
