A Paperless World? – I Don’t Think So!

Do you believe that the world will really become paperless in our future? Do you prefer the tactility of paper and enjoy working with your hands? In this elective, paper will be our main medium – Japanese papers, rag papers, found papers, newspapers! We will be learning to make our own paper, and learn the traditional and untraditional techniques of bookbinding. Through folding, cutting, scoring, tearing, making, and dyeing paper, this class offers inspiration for ideas on all levels working with diverse paper surfaces. Students will ultimately create an original artist book, bound in a style of their choosing.
